Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, from 18 November 2025, all company directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSC) of UK-registered companies must verify their identity with Companies House.
This requirement applies to all companies, directors, and PSCs – whether they are based inside or outside the UK.
When must verification be completed?

No later than the date of your company’s next Confirmation Statement.
Example: If your next deadline is 31 March 2026, all directors and PSCs must complete their identity verification by that date. -
For newly appointed directors or PSCs – within 14 days of the appointment being registered.
How can you verify your identity?

Online via the GOV.UK One Login service

At the end of the online process, you will receive a unique personal code, which must be kept secure.

Through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)

For example, an accountant or solicitor can complete the process on your behalf.
